Production Notes:
BRAINWASH returned to the studio in 1999 to record "Posthumous", his long-awaited follow-up to 1996's underground
classic, "Skitsofrenic". This time around, Brainwash handled all the production himself, with the exception of one track - done
by Bay Area super-producer j. TRU of Planet Mongrel. "Posthumous" experimented with many different styles of rap & introduced
Brainwash's new Spoken Word sytle as well.
Many of Brainwash's unreleased tracks from the movies "Smoked Out" & "Lost" were featured on this album.
Brainwash enlisted live musicians for help on the music production. He brought in multi-talented guitarist Rich Daddy Rich to
perform guitar on a few songs as well as guitarist C. Dorado - The Token White-Boy & pianist Snake Bite from the jazz/fusion group
Four Feet Projects.
Guest performances included R&B vocalist/rapper Mad-Cel, who performed the chorus on the hit "Chemistry", a song that recieved
local airplay & was also subsequently released as a CD single. Other featured artists on the album were Koid (over the phone from
Tehachapi State Prison), Planet Mongrel's j. TRU and homeboy Rickochet, who helped Brainwash give his "shouts" on the album's
outro.
Rather than having a photo-shoot for the album cover, Brainwash instead used photographs taken at the 1999 "Brain-Cel" concert,
of which Brainwash introduced much of the new, unreleased material that would become the "Posthumous" album. The concert was
the first time that Brainwash performed what would later become his trademark concert introduction, waiting off-stage as his "hype-man"
(in this case, Mad-Cel), gets the crowd pumped-up & chanting "Fuck Brainwash", before he takes the stage to perform. The intro was
re-created in the studio with j. TRU playing the part of the hype-man, getting the imaginary crowd ready for Brainwash's album.
